WOMEN’S MARCH EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR ON TRUMP CAMPAIGN ANNOUNCEMENT

Amarillo, TX — In response to tonight’s announcement by Donald Trump that he intends to run for president in 2024, Women’s March Executive Director Rachel O’Leary Carmona released the following statement:

“Women’s March was built to defeat Trump and Trumpism. That’s exactly what we’ve done, for three elections in a row, and the next vanity run by Trump will be no different.

“When Trump first came into office, we mobilized one of the biggest marches in American history to let the country and the world know that Donald Trump does not represent us. We had more people attend our march than Trump’s own inauguration.

“In 2018, we ushered in historic wins in Congress, took back the House, and brought more women into Congress than ever before.

“In 2020, we beat Trump, elected President Biden, and took control of both the House and Senate. We even helped flip Georgia blue.

“Now, in the 2022 midterms, we organized women across the country and we beat back Trumpism and won unprecedented races to retain control of the Senate and many state governments. We defied the odds and sent a clear message to Trump and Republicans: women will be your downfall.

“So Trump can run for office as many times as he wants but we will defeat him every single time. Women are the most powerful force in the country and we are dedicated to ensuring Trump remains in Florida.

“The voters made their voices clear last week: they are tired of Trumpism and want people in government that actually fight for women and for working class families. Women’s March is here to make sure of that.”
